Only the good die young -Billy Joel
I guess you could say Rhythm was just a horse, but that would be a mis-statement. Rhythm had a commanding presence about him that filled whatever space he occupied. Everyone who saw him recognized it.
Then... he stepped into the show arena. Often described as a once-in-a-lifetime, hell, a once-in-ten-lifetimes horse, Rhythm had an innate ability to move and perform. Reta loved the challenges and rewards associated with working with Rhythm. They held a special bond between them that only a horse and rider share.
Rhythm's attitude and skill in the arena has been passed down to his foals. His excpetional Dutch breeding represents both international dressage and jumping bloodlines. Everyone is looking forward to watching Zanzabar, Zephyr, and Arimus grow up and inspire the same awe in the show ring as their father.
We here at Ponderosa Performance Horses miss Rhythm daily. We miss his morning bouts with his barrel and 'Betty' buoy. We miss watching him perform in the show ring. We also miss the opportunity to see a great horse reach his full potential.
